NDU-Shouf Campus comprises a big caring family. And as in every family, comfort, happiness and health of the members are important for the well-being of the entire family. Well-aware of that, the NDU-Shouf Campus administration put together a well-being lecture for its staff members on January 23, 2017.
Dr. Khalida Abdelbaki, psychotherapist and life coach, delivered the lecture in the Shouf Campus conference room. She emphasized that people are the basis of the workplace – they make all the difference. People, who work with a positive mindset and attitude, enhance the work place environment leading to improvements on almost all work levels – including productivity, engagement and creativity. More importantly, the positive mindset makes them happier individuals and it is this happiness that leads to productivity in all aspects of their lives. Dr. Abdelbaki related the happy mind to a happy and healthy body. She gave the staff members tips on a number of simple physical exercises that would help them relieve stress and re-wire themselves into positivity. “It is when we are happy that we succeed and progress and not the other way around,” said Dr. Abdelbaki. She advised the attendees to extend the positive attitude and mindset to their familial and social environments to lead healthier and more satisfying lives.
There was a lot of give and take during the lecture as NDU-Shouf Campus employees actively interacted with Dr. Abdelbaki and questioned her on other workplace and life tips.
Father Hanna Tayar, Director of NDU- Shouf Campus, thanked Dr. Abdelbaki for the interesting and insightful lecture in hope of holding a series of other wellbeing lecture in the near future. “When we transform work from a mere duty to an act of happiness,” Father Tayar said, “we feel a true sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. It is the happiness advantage!” Father Tayar ended by also referring to the power of prayers in instilling a sense of peace, gratitude and love.
